Skin first

~ Unlocking your skin’s true potential, naturally ~

“Skin first” is a phrase that is all about prioritising and taking care of your skin from the inside out. It involves adopting a consistent skincare regime that focuses on preserving and enhancing the natural healthy functioning of your skin by using products that are suitable for your skin type, alongside daily practices that focus on the health of your body, and therefore skin from within.

It is also about looking to the future, avoiding quick fixes or the latest new trend that may end up giving you more issues in the years to come.

Your skin is the walking, talking, living, breathing testament of the true health of your mind and body, and together we will adopt a holistic approach to making sure it is the best it can possibly be.

  • Sleep

When we sleep, blood flow to the skin increases, delivering nutrients and oxygen that support cell turnover and collagen production. Sleep also lowers cortisol levels, reducing inflammation that can contribute to acne, redness, and other skin issues. It also balances moisture levels, helping the skin stay hydrated.

  • SPF

Yes, even when the blustery, grey winters of the UK lull you into a false sense of cloud covered security! So unless you actually live in a cave I strongly recommend you use SPF every single day. I recommend using factor 50 in the summer months, and 25-30 during the winter.

  • Massage

In terms of contouring your face and increasing the blood flow to your skin there is nothing better than facial massage. I’ll be able to give you a proper draining massage during your treatment, but I do recommend trying to bring it into your daily routine — and I’ll show you how. You don’t have to complicate things with gua sha, mushrooms or facial cups if you don’t want to — just your hands, consistency and the right routine can make a huge difference.

  • Routine

There is so much conflicting advice out there, and there are so many different products and treatments you can have. Please don’t jump on the latest skin care trend, often less is more, listen to your skin and what it wants and keep a consistent routine at home.

  • Water

Water is basically free skincare! It is essential for healthy skin, hydrating skin cells from within to improve elasticity and radiance. It flushes out toxins and supports a clearer complexion. Staying hydrated also maintains your skin barrier, protecting against pollutants and dryness. Over time, good hydration gives skin a natural glow, helping it to look balanced, smooth, and at its best every day. It should be an important part of your skin care routine.
